MARGARET THATCHER: AN APOLOGY

In light of the stomach turning behaviour of a number of politicians and public figures who recently in the media who have felt the need to grovel and apologise for any disparaging and/or abusive comments made against Baroness Thatcher, and after witnessing them being bullied by their party leaders or the press to issue an apology for any damage or hurt caused to her reputation or pride, I hearby give notice that I unreservedly refuse to apologise in any way shape or form for any comments made by me previously, presently or in the future in respect of this poor apology for a human being.

Furthermore, in the hope of informing debate on the current press speculation regarding preperations for the Baronesses forthcoming funeral ( I guess only after she has left this mortal coil) I hearby inform all parties interested of my signature to the following HM Government public e-petition stating:

Thatcher state funeral to be privatised

Responsible department: Cabinet Office

In keeping with the great lady's legacy, Margaret Thatcher's state funeral should be funded and managed by the private sector to offer the best value and choice for end users and other stakeholders. The undersigned believe that the legacy of the former PM deserves nothing less and that offering this unique opportunity is an ideal way to cut government expense and further prove the merits of liberalised economics Baroness Thatcher spearheaded.

I would therefore urge all my fellow social network friends to visit the following link
and join me in allowing such an auspicious occasion to be treated with the same free market enterprising spirit with which Mrs Thatcher herself applied to the mining communities of the United Kingdom who will forever be in her debt for allowing them to diversify their employment skills and/or spend more time at home with their families.

I furthermore inform all those music lovers who may be interested that I have dusted off my personal copy of Elvis Costello's "Tramp the dirt down" and I attach a video copy here below in "You Tube" format so that the world and his dog can be in no way confused as to my real contempt and ill feelings towards the Iron Lady and her political contribution to the British way of life.

  1. I could add another couple of anti Thatcher songs worth a listen, Morrissey's Margaret on the Guillotine and the rather funky Celebrate (the day after you) by Red Wedge favourites the Blow Monkeys

  2. Patriot, you never cease to amaze me! Have you not been told that Morrisey and Red Wedge are the sole refuge of the British left! If your fellow party members get to hear about your anti Thatcher sentiments and secret yearning for the Blow Monkeys then it will be an expulsion from the BNP quicker than David Irving can mutter holocaust denial!

  3. Tony, I am no longer a member of the BNP after choosing not to renew my membership. It appears it is easier to be expelled from the Labour Party these days! I hear they are in dire need of people who know how to fill in election nomination papers, maybe I should apply!

  4. Hi Tony,

Thanks for this, I have signed

  5. Patriot, time to leave the far right to their ever ongoing intersterile arguments and look for wider political answers to life's questions?

Thanks Gary, every single signature counts.

  6. Perhaps, there are irons in the fire in this county regarding a non-political community based approach to preserving British, and English history, heritage and culture, but where my personal future political allegiances lay remains to be seen.

  7. You sad person Clarke. What a huge chip you retain on those ever increasing shoulders.

  8. What a strange and cowardly post! Whoever it is can't even tell me I am fat without hiding behind a cyberscreen.

    Delete or leave?

Leave of course, because if I am still getting such a volatile and juvenile reaction from someone on the right then my work is still being done!

  9. What bitter and utter diatribe you come out with. You'll be telling people next that they're 'fattist'.

For the record. I am also portly but don't ever use it as an excuse for insulting people. It's sometimes seen as an endearing and contented result of reasonable living and a condition sometimes found in ones of a certain age.

Quite why you should straight away fire off at the mouth before engaging the brain, indeed says more about the way you feel about yourself. Wide shoulders merely suggests that you might be working out, perhaps.

They do also say that the sense of humour starts to dwindle as you grow older. Oh gosh maybe I shouldn't have said that you are getting old!

    Delete or leave?

Leave of course and attempt to engage rather than get angry. Sticks and stones etc.

  10. Your fattist! but I am very happy to engage, lets start with some introductions, my name is Tony, you are?

  11. Yours faithfully

In your eyes probably another -

"poor apology for a human being".

  12. In my eyes the role of anonymous poster is the last refuge of the resentful, the scandalous and the cowardly inept.

Why else, would anyone not want to give ownership even to their own words?

If not determining a poor apology for a human being, it is certainly a written poor apology for human behaviour.

  13. Come on anonymous, are you a man or a Tory?

  15. Sorry, but all the above, article and responses, shows up what is wrong with the political scene today, both nationally and locally.
Please quit the personality based slanging matches.
They simply divert attention away from focussing on the real issues affecting ordinary people in rip-off britain nowadays.
And thats primarily re-charging our manufacturing and UK based production, then flogging it abroad instead of importing most things.

  16. You may have a point anon, but many of us have strong feelings and long memories regarding Thatcher and she herself was the architect of the Rip Off Britain we now live in Rail, Gas, Electricity,Water, does anyone remember her promises on competition driving down the cost to the consumer! The high cost of energy inmy view is the single biggest threat to a future manufacturing base in the UK

    1. The high cost of energy is a result of being over-dependent on non-UK sources, a failure of government(s) to properly exploit UK based energy resources, and failure of entrepreneurs to invest in alternative sources of energy.
Certainly the ownership and management of national resources like minerals, water, energy etc should be in public ownership.
Ditto public services like NHS, rail etc.
But that needs to be managed so that it is efficient, and the bugbear of the nationalised industries and councils was, and is, perceptions of inefficiency, both real and imagined.
The "internal market" was anything but efficient, as is outsourcing.
Its just more non-productive bureaucrats adding layers of paperwork between sharp end delivery of services and those who should really be in charge.
